Entrance requirements: This program
requires a 12th-grade level of reading and
candidates must meet at least one of the
following requirements:
Having a high
school diploma or GED equivalent, or
Having passed the Test of Adult Basic
Education (TABE), Form A Level 7-8, with a
minimum reading score of 624, which is
equivalent to the 12th or 9th grade level of
reading.

This program provides students with the
knowledge and skills needed to successfully
perform the duties of entry-level medical
office administrators. The major contents of
this program will cover medical terminology
of the body organs, coding for medical
diseases, medical treatment procedures, drug
names and medical diagnoses in the medical
report, laboratory tests and procedures,
payers’ claim processing policies and
procedures, processing medical claim issues,
medical office legal issues, medical office
administrative principles and procedures,
communication skills with physicians and
patients, managing patients records manually
and electronically.

Introduction to Keyboarding I and Formatting Essentials |
Students will learn the basic skill in typing, developing keyboarding skills, alphabetic skills, figure and keys and be able to type 25 wpm within 3 minutes with 95% accuracy.

Introduction to Keyboarding II and Formatting Essentials |
Student will learn how to Format Business Documents, Word Processing Basics, Business Correspondence, Simple Reports and Tables. Student will learn how to edit these documents and develop speed. Students will be able to type 30 wpm within 5 minutes with 95% accuracy.

Introduction to Medical Terminology

Student will learn how to add prefixes and suffixes of terms, abbreviate terms, give meanings of abbreviations, and write Medical terms and its definitions accurately. Also, students will learn body structure and organization.

Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology
|
Student will learn and understand the organization and structure of the body, by identifying parts of the system, describing disorders of the system, and labeling structures of diagrams.

Introduction to Medical Insurance and Medical Coding |
Students will gain an understanding of the medical industry and medical practices and will learn the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of entry-level medical administrative assistants.

Students will be acquainted with the skills of handling all medical claim forms, filing procedures and policies, and coding different diseases and laboratory tests.
